Alex Pierce, PABoard-certified Physician Assistant
Alex Pierce, PA is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics. After growing up in Naperville, Illinois, his exploration into medical sciences brought him to the University of Minnesota, where he pursued a degree in biology. He became interested in the field of medicine through volunteering at M Health Fairview, assisting in a miRNA research lab, working as a biology teaching assistant, and assisting residents at ACR homes. After graduating, he spent time working as a CNA in the orthopedic department at a busy hospital in Illinois before pursuing his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies degree from St. Catherine University. As a board-certified PA, he then went on to complete an orthopedic fellowship through TRIA, where he now works.
Alex works in close collaboration with Dr. Adam Johannsen, evaluating both operative and non-operative injuries of the shoulder, hip, and knee, as well as sports medicine injuries and fractures. He is able to see new and returning patients, perform diagnostic testing, and guide discussions for both operative and non-operative treatment. He can coordinate and expedite surgical care by preparing the patient for surgery, starting the case booking process, walking through procedures, discussing risk factors, and assisting with post operative care plans.
Alex’s practice is currently with TRIA, primarily at the Burnsville and Shakopee locations. He has a strong clinical presence and also acts as a first assist in the operating room. He enjoys providing comprehensive patient care through his collaborative relationship with the orthopaedic surgical team.
